Another post, damn, I think I am getting the hang of this again. I have been thinking a little about 2026, given how my health keeps throwing me curveballs I have been reluctant to set my self any goals for the future, I normally like to set my self a few milestones to reach be it a number of miles to cycle or a number of books to read, or just to try and take a photo a day, this year I am trying a different tactic, I am not goal setting, there is too much change ahead that I cannot control.
There is no escaping it, right now the weather is cold and or wet pretty much all of the time, I think the official stats say it has rained in the South West every day since the beginning of the year, nothing compared to 100 days straight in Bergen Norway in 2007/2008 I think it was but still pretty spicy. I certainly am hoping for milder weather ahead as I desperately want to get out and ride, a large dose of Fukitol 1000mg might be needed soon and just brave the elements for even a shorter ride, it is hard when warm and waterproof cycling kit is not made for the larger fella in the room.
But, a couple of bits of good news, first of all I have managed to get the Surly Wednesday rebuilt and rolling, a post work roll up and down the road reminded me how much I enjoy riding this nutter of a bike, those huge tyres are great fun and the noise it makes rolling over tarmac or gravel tracks is great, later this year if we get a spring bonus I will get a rear rack and some bags for the back.
I am not overly happy with the bumper bar from Restrap, I think it is a little wide and is kinda interfering with the cable routing a little, I might try the Surly front rack to sit in on and support the bottom, I really want to use the Wizard Works Bad Jelly bag up front as it will hold my camera and stuff quite nicely.
The other bit of good news, we think we have found the reason why I seemed to crash physically 18 months ago, a recent health check found that I have type 2 diabetes, I am now medicating and learning to eat a little better, here is hoping that is swings my life back in my direction for a change. more in a bit, hopefully with the sunny photo's, bye for now.
